What do I need to do to begin the Nutrisystem program?

Getting started in easy! Just choose which 28-Day program is right for you—Women’s, Men’s, Women’s Silver, Men’s Silver, Women’s Type 2 Diabetic, Men’s Type 2 Diabetic, Women’s Vegetarian, Men’s Vegetarian, Women’s Select, Men’s Select or Flex—and choose the Basic or Select (Frozen) foods you’d like to eat from more than 150 great-tasting entrees, snacks and desserts.

What is auto delivery and how does it work?

Auto-Delivery is a convenient and cost-saving way to ensure you never run out of your Nutrisystem meals. With Auto-Delivery, you receive a discount off the month to month program price and free shipping (Continental US only) on your Nutrisystem food orders.  When you choose Auto-Delivery, your selected 28-Day program is automatically charged and shipped every 4 weeks unless you cancel. You can cancel Auto-Delivery at any time by calling 1-800-727-8046.

How much weight will I lose the first week?

Experts concur that losing 1-2 pounds a week is healthy, and the following your Nutrisystem plan should help you achieve this. It’s important to remember that individual results will vary, so keep that in mind when you set your weight loss goals.

Do I need to buy additional food from the grocery store?

How much and what foods you may need to add to your program varies depending on your individual weight loss needs and program you select.  For assistance in determining your personal program needs, you should speak with a Nutrisystem weight loss counselor at 1-800-585-5483.

Am I allowed to eat restaurant food when I’m on the Nutrisystem Plan?

Yes—but the choices you make will determine whether you will move closer to or farther away from your weight loss goal.  Nutrisystem offers a Dining Out Guide in your monthly meal planner with tips on healthy choices in a variety of restaurants. It will help you to make smart choices and limit portion sizes to ensure that restaurant dining does not interfere with your weight loss goal.

Should I take a vitamin supplement?

Yes—Nutrisystem does recommend that you take a multivitamin as part of your Nutrisystem® program.  You should consult your physician or pharmacist for a recommendation.

Will I have to exercise on the Nutrisystem program?

Exercise will help you lose weight faster while giving you energy and helping your body retain lean muscle. You may have to adjust your routine when you begin the plan as you adjust to a new daily caloric intake. If you aren’t already exercising when you begin Nutrisystem, consider beginning a moderate routine once you’re accustomed to your new diet plan. And remember, you should always talk with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

How do I prepare my Nutrisystem® foods?

Each Nutrisystem food item includes specific preparation instructions on its box or container. Most Nutrisystem foods can be prepared in the microwave or on the stovetop. Some simply require the addition of hot water, and others, such as bars and snacks, are ready to eat with no preparation at all.

How many glasses of water do I need daily?

Although water needs vary by individual, consuming six to eight 8 oz. glasses (48-64 oz.) of water is recommended each day.

Should I weight myself each day?

Nutrisystem recommends weighing yourself just once a week—preferably at the same time of day and while wearing the same type of clothing each time.
